Questions We Hear Often
Frequently Asked
How long do I have to bring a personal injury claim in Malaysia?
Generally, the Limitation Act 1953 sets a six-year period for most civil claims, but specific categories — including road accident claims against insurers and dependency claims — may carry different limitation windows. We assess your time position at the outset so nothing is overlooked.
What documents should I gather before my first consultation?
Whatever you have is a sufficient starting point. Police reports, hospital discharge summaries, medical bills, photographs, and employment records are all useful. If certain documents are missing, we assist in obtaining them. There is no minimum paperwork required before you contact us.
Will I be pressured to accept a settlement offer quickly?
No. We prepare a quantum note reflecting current court trends before any offer is evaluated. If an early figure falls short, we advise you accordingly. The decision to accept, counter, or proceed to court remains entirely yours.
What types of personal injury claims does Pulih Law handle?
We handle road accident claims, workplace injury matters, medical negligence cases, and dependency claims brought by families following a fatal incident. If your situation involves a different circumstance, contact us and we will let you know plainly whether we are in a position to assist.
How are fees structured? Are there hidden charges?
Our service fees are stated clearly at engagement. The initial conversation — including an assessment of whether your matter suits the firm — carries no charge if we determine we are unable to assist. Disbursements such as medical report fees are itemised separately and explained before they are incurred.
How long does a personal injury case typically take to resolve?
Negotiated settlements can sometimes conclude within a few months once evidence is in order. Contested proceedings before the Sessions or High Court may take one to three years depending on court scheduling, complexity of medical evidence, and whether appeals arise. We keep you updated at each stage in writing.
